Every pupil, on arriving at the school, is adopted into one of four ‘houses’. These houses are teams made up of pupils from every year group from Reception upwards, in which all pupils are encouraged to compete in challenges across several disciplines, winning house points in both academic and extra-curricular activities in a bid to become the Champion House.
Pupils stay in the same house throughout their time at BSM including those progressing from BSM primary and siblings are placed in the same house.
Every house is led by a student House Captain, with pupil Year Leaders and House Captains helping to nurture house spirit, promote healthy competition and design new activities. Aided by the ‘House Parents’ and inspired by their pupil leaders, your children have various opportunities to cheer and compete for their house.
Pupils also gain credit for their house by accruing house points during lessons. These can be awarded by teachers for a myriad of reasons, including contributing positively to class discussions, improving their effort and completing outstanding work. When pupils reach a certain number, recorded in their planners, they receive a certificate.
