The student
body is multi-cultural and includes
children from over 50 countries and non-British pupils account for nearly half
of the School's population. Our school
follows the National Curriculum for England at all four Key Stages.
Students
are prepared for the Key Stage SATs, GCSE examinations, AS and A2 levels and ultimately
for universities of their choice. Whilst maintaining a sharp academic focus,we also endeavour to develop well-rounded students who are prepared for the opportunities,
responsibilities and experiences of life.
Recognising
Achievement
Throughout the School we seek opportunities to recognise and
celebrate students' achievements. Merits, subject awards, letters of commendation,
effort certificates, trophies, cups and medals all ensure that as many students
as possible have a tangible reward for their efforts and achievement.
Individual
Attention
Throughout all year groups, students in the British School-Muscat
receive individual attention, helping them to realise their potential. This is
done through a variety of ways that include, individual assessment and establishment
of personal targets, the use of learning support assistants, form tutors and differentiated
work.
Target
Setting
The British School-Muscat is at the forefront of educational practice
in the way it uses information from assessments to set targets for each student
to track their progress on a regular basis. This strategy provides a powerful
motivator for students and helps students learn the importance of working towards
specific goals. Parents and teachers are provided with a realistic basis for assessing
the progress and achievement of each student.
Service
Standards
Parents and students receive priority attention in an open and
friendly environment that promotes open communication between school, parents
and students. Frontline personnel are available to provide information and assistance
to parents and to make each interaction with the School a pleasant one.
