The Primary School has a strong identity and ethos. We look for opportunities to celebrate the talents and achievements of pupils throughout the year. We teach the National Curriculum for England and Wales, enriching this with learning linked to our international context. Learning is not confined to the classroom, we actively promote first hand experiences and have an established trips and visits program.
Our pupils strive for academic success but also understand the importance of developing broad and balanced interests, taking full advantage of the specialist teaching we provide in music, P.E, ICT, French and swimming.
Our pupils are encouraged to develop an understanding of good citizenship and actively take part in fundraising activities and community events such as beach clean ups. Our pupils are well mannered and well behaved and display a wonderful enthusiasm for learning. Many of our families are in Oman for a set period of time and as a result there is a strong emphasis that’ every day counts’. There is a calm, purposeful atmosphere around the school and children are actively involved in their own learning.
As part of this commitment to lifelong learning at BSM we provide high quality, ongoing professional development for our staff. As a 3-18 school we benefit from having very experienced teachers with excellent subject knowledge. As pupils move through the school their transition is closely monitored with teachers communicating effectively to ensure individual pupil needs are met.
You will see from our vision that we aim ‘to offer the highest quality British education to children of wide ranging abilities and nationalities. An essential pre-requisite for this is a strong home-school partnership. We enjoy active participation from parents through attendance at sporting events, exhibitions and assemblies. We welcome feedback from parents and members of our community on the strengths of the school and how we could make improvements.
If you are able to visit our school a brief visit to the classrooms will leave you in no doubt that our children thrive at BSM. I look forward to meeting you and your children.
