Art & Design

At BSM we believe that the arts provide our pupils with opportunities to help shape and understand the world in which they live irrespective of their background, culture and ability. Enjoyment of the foundation subjects such as Art and Design and Design Technology is central to our learning ethos as well as motivating and raising children’s self-esteem.

How is Art & Design and Design Technology taught at BSM?

In the Primary School, Years 1 to 6 follow the learning outcomes from the QCA National Curriculum for Art and Design and Design Technology. Each year group will adapt these units and integrate them into their own topic work.
Nursery and Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, in which one of the six areas of learning is Creative Development.

Learning is extended through trips and visits including to the Al Madina Art Gallery and the National Hospitality Institute.
