If you have any questions about the curriculum, or any other area concerning your child’s progress, please arrange a meeting with the class teacher. Brief queries can usually be answered via a note in the personal organiser. However, for a more in-depth discussion, it is usually best to arrange a time after school.
In order to strengthen Home–School communication, it is important that you speak to your class teacher directly in the first instance. We are always pleased to discuss your child’s progress with you, so please don’t wait until a concern becomes a problem before speaking to us.
In Year Four the expectation is that children spend 30 minutes a night completing homework tasks.
The daily homework consists of:
- 10 minutes reading
- 10 minutes numeracy passport
- 10 minutes spelling practice and spelling activities
In addition there will be 20 minutes of stand-alone Maths skills work once a week.
Occasionally during the term we will send home a longer project for the children to complete, for example making something or completing research. They will be given extended time to complete the task and spelling and numeracy homework will not be set during those weeks.
As a school we follow the Golden Rules:
- We respect everyone and everything;
- We are resilient and resourceful learners;
- We are honest;
- We always show good manners;
- We are good listeners;
- We work together as a team.
