Welcome to the British School - Muscat website!
I am delighted to be starting my first term as Principal of the British School - Muscat.
Over the next few weeks I am looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, parents, governors and members of the wider Muscat community. First, I'd like to congratulate the students on a terrific set of A Level, AS and GCSE results. The results are as follows:
At A level 99.4% of grades were A*- E is and the proportion of grades at A/A* was 36%. Both these figures exceed the UK national averages of 97.8% and 27% respectively. All Year 13 students who applied for higher education courses have had a place confirmed at a university of their choice.
At AS level 95% of grades were at A-E level, with the proportion of A/B grades being 42%. Both these figures exceed the UK national averages of 88.2% and 38.4% respectively.
At GCSE 79.3% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics. The percentage of A*/A grades was 46%. The UK national average for these measures is 53.4% (2010 figures) and 23.2% respectively.
My thanks go to the staff, parents, governors and all those in the wider community who have contributed to the students' outstanding success.
Second, I will be providing students, staff, parents, governors and the wider community with a number of opportunities over the next term to meet with me to discuss the priorities for the next stage of the school's development. Further details of how you can be involved will be available shortly. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Kind Regards,
