Step 2. |
Obtain a School Report and/or a letter of recommendation in English from your child's current school and forward it to our Registrar |
This is a very important step because we need to know your child’s recent educational history in order to place them into the most appropriate class and teach them effectively from day one. Please ensure that you fully disclose any known learning difficulties and forward associated reports, including those from educational psychologists, so that we can decide upon the right educational provision for your child. We can cater for children of wide ranging abilities and have a well staffed learning support department which provides additional support for those children who need permanent or temporary extra help with their learning. Unfortunately though, we are unable to cater for literally all abilities and so it is important for you to contact us if you have concerns before deciding to leave your present country.
Our school was established under a Royal Charter in 1973 to provide education for children who can speak English. Currently we have children from over 50 different nations and about 15% do not have English as their main language. Basically, we accept children providing they can communicate in English sufficiently well to access the curriculum and thereby learn effectively. If you have any concerns, simply contact the registrar via one of the routes listed in Step 1 above and she will be delighted to advise you.
NB. Step 3 will normally only commence if a place is available. If the Year Group is full, and Steps 1 and 2 have been completed, your child’s name will be placed on a waiting list, you will be kept informed of progress by our Registrar, and Step 3 will begin as soon as a place becomes available.
Step 3. |
You and your child will be invited to attend a meeting with either the Head of the Primary School or the Head of the Senior School
|
This, together with your child’s school report and/or letter of recommendation from their current school, enables us to place your child into the most appropriate class and teaching group(s).
There is no entrance test as such but children entering Senior School are required to sit assessment tests in English and Maths, for setting purposes, before they start.
Children for whom English is not their main language or children with special educational needs may also be required to meet with other members of our staff in order to decide upon the most appropriate educational provision.
Once Step 3 has been fully completed, which can sometimes take a few days at the beginning of Terms 2 and 3, your child will be offered a confirmed place and a starting date.
Please note that for educational and health and safety reasons it is not possible for any child to start at our School unless we have received a fully completed Registration Form and School Report and/or Letter of Recommendation from their previous school. Parents sometimes find that obtaining school reports from existing schools can be a slow process. Therefore, in order to avoid disappointment and a delayed start to your child’s education with us, please give your existing school plenty of notice (usually at least three weeks) for the teachers to write their report. Allow another week for it to reach us by airmail.

Finally, we do look forward to smoothing your application through our simple 3 step process and thank you in anticipation of your understanding and co-operation along the way.
