BSM MARLINS

BSM Marlins is an elite swimming squad open to all members of the Muscat community looking to compete at a high level.

The team offers year-round training sessions and there are currently four performance squads within the programme, as well as a development squad (from age 8 upwards) and a fitness squad.

We are always looking for new members. BSM Marlins is open to all members of the Muscat community looking to compete at a high level. If you are already a competitive swimmer, we should be able to get you a trial right away with an applicable squad.

If you are not sure of your current level, we can arrange for a trial to take place. Trials take place roughly twice a Term.

Please fill in the registration form to apply for a trial:

Each swimmer is assessed on their ability; taking into consideration the current squad criteria, the swimmer’s age and swimming potential. The Head Coach will offer successful trialists a place in one of the squads. Due to the limited number of spaces available within the Marlins squads, it cannot be guaranteed that each interested swimmer will gain a place. However, the Head Coach will inform any unsuccessful applicants what they need to improve on, so that they may be reassessed in the future.

Our squads regularly compete at both local and National competitions and the BSM Marlins have now established themselves as one of the leading clubs in the Middle East Region.

BSM Marlins Coaching Team

Head Coach – Stuart Clarke

Stuart is an ASA Level 2 qualified coach and has been BSM Marlins Head Coach since 2015.

Prior to this, he coached in Germany, Australia, and the UK, producing several British and European age Group record holders.

During his time at Marlins, Stuart has seen the club double in size and he has introduced Development, Fitness and Performance squads, as well as a Masters squad, which is continuing to grow.

Highlights whilst at Marlins have been coaching Marlins swimmers to achieve qualifying times for National Championships across the World, as well as getting representatives to the British Nationals every year since 2017. In 2018, BSM student Henry Baker won a medal at the British age Group Championships and in 2022, BSM students Alex Block and Lauren Kenna won medals at the English Summer Nationals.

Stuart is also a passionate swimmer and has competed at an open National level since 2007 (in the 100m and 200m freestyle).

Stuart’s coaching ethos is “to ensure that every swimmer, no matter how fast or able, is given the opportunity to reach their full potential in the pool”.
